FAQ

Questions and answers.

The things we are asked most, answered plainly. If yours is not here, write to us and we will reply within one working day.

Ordering

How do I order?

Build your sofa in the configurator and press "Request a quote". We reply within one working day with a fixed price and a payment link. A 30 percent deposit starts production and the rest is due before delivery. There is no basket, because every sofa is made to order and we like to check the details with you first.

Can I change my order after I pay the deposit?

Yes, until we cut your fabric, which is usually two weeks after the deposit. You can change the fabric, the legs or the number of modules. After the fabric is cut, we can still change the legs.

Can I sit on one before I buy?

Yes. Our studio in Amsterdam has every layout and a wall of fabrics, open Tuesday to Saturday by appointment. If you cannot visit, order free swatches and use the 30-day home trial described under returns.

Delivery

How long does delivery take?

Six to eight weeks from the day we receive your deposit. We tell you the exact week when we confirm your quote, and we send a message a week before to agree a two-hour slot.

Where do you deliver?

The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Luxembourg are free. France is 120 euros. We do not deliver to islands or to the UK at the moment.

Will it fit up my stairs?

Almost certainly. Every module is a separate box. A standard module box is no larger than 100 by 100 by 60 centimetres and weighs at most 38 kilograms. The chaise module is the biggest at 175 centimetres long and 41 kilograms. A module fits through a 70 centimetre door carried on its side. Tell us about your stairs and we will check.

Who puts it together?

The delivery team carries the boxes in, clips the modules together, fits the legs, places the sofa where you want it and takes the packaging away. Clipping modules together needs no tools, so you can also rearrange them yourself later.

Fabrics

Can I see the fabrics first?

Yes. Choose up to five swatches on the fabrics page and we post them for free within three working days. They are A5 size, large enough to hold against a wall and a floor.

What does the Martindale number mean?

It is the number of rubs a fabric survives in a standard test before it starts to wear. Homes need about 15,000 to 25,000. Every Tessel fabric is rated at 30,000 or more, and the recycled velvet at 100,000.

Which fabric is best with pets or children?

The recycled velvet is the toughest and wipes clean. The wool is next and hides marks well. Bouclé is lovely but the loops can catch claws, so we suggest it for homes without cats.

Care and repair

How do I clean it?

Vacuum weekly with the soft brush and blot spills at once with cold water and a white cloth. The covers unzip and can be dry cleaned. Each fabric page has its own care notes.

What if something wears out or breaks?

Everything is replaceable: covers, foam inserts, legs, link plates and feet. We keep spare parts for at least ten years after a product leaves the range, and the repair guide is published on the craft page.

Returns

What if I do not like it?

You have a 30-day home trial. If it is not right, we collect it for a flat 95 euros and refund everything else. Made-to-order sofas are the reason the collection fee exists: we cannot resell them as new.

Warranty

What does the warranty cover?

Ten years on the beech frame, five years on the foam and two years on the fabric and stitching. It covers faults in materials and making. It does not cover ordinary wear, pets or accidents.

Modules and take-back

Can I add a module later?

Yes. Modules stay in the range for at least ten years. A new module is made in the same fabric when the dye lot is still available. If it is not, we offer the nearest match and a discount on a full set of new covers.

What happens when I am done with it?

We take it back. The frame is reused or recycled, the foam goes to a recycling partner and the fabric is sent to be turned into insulation. Ask for a collection when you order a new sofa and we take the old one away at no charge.
